Maxwell Scott and the Perfect Weekender Bag
Hello, friends! Maxwell Scott is a brand that I hadn’t known of before I started looking around at weekender bags and I am here to tell you, that this one is AMAZING! Everyone seemingly makes a weekender bag. GQ writes up a yearly post on “The Perfect Weekender” for summer, and this one from Maxwell Scott checks all the boxes. They also have it in a smaller size. A weekender bag like this will take you to and from, and is perfect for weekend summer getaways. The beauty about Maxwell Scott is the care and craftsmanship that goes into the materials and the bag itself. This is a bag made from Italian leather, so you know the quality is going to last. I’m a big believer in buying things that last, and this absolutely fits that mold. They have a ton of great bags for men here and women here as well.
Not only do they make great bags, but I’ve partnered with them on a giveaway for their leather card holder with FREE PERSONAL ENGRAVING to the winner! You can enter the Maxwell Scott raffle here: ENTER THE RAFFLE HERE
Check out a preview of my interview with them below, and run over to the website to see the full write-up tomorrow! (links coming!)
Q: You grew up in Texas. Where did your love for traditional sartorialism come from?
A: I grew up liking fashion but never had a sense of style really until I stopped playing football. It’s hard as a bigger guy to fit into clothes, but somehow I still found a way while playing. I remember my Offensive Coordinator at Texas Tech still making fun of me for wearing “skinny jeans”. I could have cared less haha, I enjoy clothes and everything that comes with it and I think it’s something every guy should take pride in.
Q: Who is your ultimate style icon, past or present?
A: I’m a big believer in sort of curating your own icons that speak to your personal tastes, but I am a huge fan of David Gandy, Steve McQueen, and Ryan Gosling. David Gandy for me is someone who brings back tailoring to menswear and does it in a way that feels classic but updated. He would be my #1 icon at the moment, and great for you guys as he’s British like Maxwell! Steve McQueen’s effortless style is something every guy should take note of and Ryan Gosling is someone who flows from formal to casual all in one setting.
Q: What do you believe are the 5 key essential pieces every gentleman needs in their summer wardrobe?
A: White sneakers, a good polo, great sunglasses, chino shorts, and a Maxwell Scott weekender bag!
Q: You played football in college at Rutgers. Are there any footballers you particularly admire for their style choices?
A: There definitely has been a change in how athletes dress, and the NFL is a good place to start. Lots of the QB’s (Tom Brady) are always sharp but there are some guys that still need help. Guys have to know that even if they’re a big guy, there are brands that fit them. The NBA guys are ones that can be learned from in the sense that they don’t care what you think of what they’re wearing. If they like something, they own it.
